Tragically, the family of an older lady felt that they had no choice but to move her into residential care. Her medication was very complex, requiring physical measurements to be taken for each dosage, and she required support with personal care and household tasks.
However, by matching her to suitable care workers, we gained her and her family’s trust. After consulting with other professionals and her family, we encouraged her to leave her home and access the community through social support.
Now, each week, she attends the hairdressers and has 3 social support visits. She also regularly attends a community centre for lunch, chat and a spot of bingo. All the while, she continues to live independently in her own home – to the great peace of mind of her family.
